Brits favour Florida for family breaks

British holidaymakers have long favoured the state of Florida for their holidays, it has been noted.

According to president and chief executive at VISIT FLORIDA Christopher Thompson, "the Brits have had a love affair with the state of Florida for a long time so it is certainly a comfortable and an attractive destination".

Figures from VISIT FLORIDA showed that between July and September this year, 18.5 million people visited the Sunshine State, which is well known for its good weather and wide range of theme parks and water parks, such as Disney Land and Busch Gardens.

Next year, more families could be tempted to get travel insurance and head to Florida as the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter is set to open at Universal Studios in the state.

The new area of the park promises to offer Brits a "one-of-a kind" Harry Potter experience and will also give holidaymakers the chance to wander around sets which have been made to match those seen in the films.
