NYC tops Heathrow destinations

New York is still one of the top destinations for flights from London's Heathrow Airport, according to the flight hub.
Heathrow is the world's busiest airport, with flights arriving and setting off to destinations all over the globe, but the US city of New York is still the most popular.
And a spokesperson for the airport admitted that the top ten destinations had remained "fairly static" over the last few years, suggesting Britons are not seeking out as many new holiday locations as thought.
Damon Hunt, a spokesperson for Heathrow Airport, said that Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Edinburgh, LA, Dubai and Glasgow join New York in the top ten.
"That list has stayed fairly static over the last couple of years," he admitted.
"Heathrow is different from a lot of smaller airports like Gatwick and Stansted. It's what's called a hub, so people use it to fly internationally and to get to other destinations."
However, anyone heading outside the UK from Heathrow is urged to double check they have adequate travel insurance, so they are covered should anything adverse happen on their trip.
