Check travel insurance policy carefully, says expert

People heading off on holiday soon have been advised to check their travel insurance policy, following the collapse of XL.
According to comparethemarket.com, not all insurers will provide cover in the event of a travel company going bust - which has left thousands stranded in recent weeks.
Holidaymakers have also been advised to consider booking through an agent or tailored travel company, as by doing so they are more likely to receive total coverage.
Jeremy Moll, an insurance expert with the site, said: "Not all insurance providers offer cover should the airline you are travelling with close down while you are away.
"If you have any concerns about the … company you are travelling with you should always shop around for a policy that covers you for every eventuality."
Prior to XL going out of business last week, the transatlantic air carrier Zoom declared itself bankrupt, leaving scores of Brits stranded in the US and Canada.
A major travel company yesterday (September 17th) refuted claims that the package holiday industry was in decline.
