When it comes to travelling abroad for a prolonged period of time, it is of the utmost importance that people buy gap year travel insurance that fits their trips, the Daily Mail has claimed.
With the media spotlight highlighting how gap years are becoming popular among adults who have lost their jobs, the newspaper has provided people thinking of packing up and taking out backpacking travel insurance with some useful tips.
According to the paper, long-term travellers who own a house could benefit from employing a management company to rent it out during their absence.
While specialist travel insurance will provide holidaymakers with cover for the duration of their trip, they should also tell their home insurer they are letting the property; otherwise, cover could become invalidated if a claim is made.
The Daily Mail also urged gap year takers to set up an internet bank and credit card accounts that can be monitored from abroad.
According to Gapforce, people can use volunteer breaks to pick up meaningful skills which they can include on their CVs while travelling.
