'Get travel insurance' for expensive items

Those travelling with expensive items are advised to get separate travel insurance to cover them individually.
According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI) it is worth considering getting extra travel insurance for jewellery or sports equipment as travel polices will only cover policyholders for a "limited amount".
Malcolm Tarling, spokesperson for ABI, said: "People may have wider, higher limits under their household policy if they have got all risks.
"It's a question of checking your policy and checking if you have cover for items outside of the home under your household policy."
He added: "It is always sensible to read the policy to understand what you are covered for before you buy it."
Figures released earlier this year by Sainsbury's found that up to ten per cent of people heading overseas this year could travel without cover.
The survey found that 4.2 million people did not have travel insurance the last time they went abroad on holiday.
