Half-term holidaymakers reminded to take travel insurance

People off on half-term getaways have been reminded about the importance of taking out travel insurance before they go.
With the clocks having gone back and Britain's weather turning increasingly cold, many families may be considering taking a break this half-term and finding a warm respite to enjoy some sun before Christmas arrives.
However, moneysupermarket.com has warned that people must ensure they are adequately covered before heading on a trip abroad.
"Travel insurance should be an essential item when planning any holiday," a spokeswoman for the firm explained.
This time of year is also when many families may be planning a trip to Europe for a snowsports holiday, making the need for travel insurance all the more acute as the danger of injury is heightened on such trips.
World First Travel Insurance has also launched a buy now ski later campaign and is encouraging travellers to look at the benefits of annual travel insurance compared to buying single trip policies each time they travel.
A recent study from the Ski Club of Great Britain discovered that 1.27 million people in the UK are now part of the country's snowsports market, as demand for skiing and snowboarding holidays remains undiminished despite the global recession.
