Holidaymakers taking risks over travel insurance

Not enough people are recognising the importance of taking out travel insurance, it has been suggested.
Citing recent figures compiled by Sainsbury's, consumer website reviewcentre.com says that because it is not compulsory, many travellers are opting not to get cover – and putting themselves at risk.
It also said that travel insurance firms need to help build confidence among customers which will help encourage more of them to take out policies.
Paul Nadin, managing director of reviewcentre.com, said: "Some people don't consider taking out travel insurance as mandatory and then suffer the consequences when they have a bad experience abroad.
"There is some work to be done by travel insurance companies to reassure consumers they are taking on board their feedback and meeting their needs."
Earlier this week, travel company Sports Tours warned that holidaymakers planning sports or activity holidays should always ensure they take out travel insurance.
