Insurance important for couples marrying abroad

Couples who are planning to get married abroad need to think about taking out wedding insurance as well as travel insurance.
That is according to the general manager for long haul for Thomson and First Choice, who has warned brides and grooms that important wedding essentials may not be covered by a travel insurance policy.
However, Shona Swain stressed that travel insurance is also of the utmost importance.
Ms Swain noted that a good way to make sure everything is covered is to take out a travel insurance policy and to then purchase a wedding top up policy.
She explained that this will cover things such as lost wedding rings or problems with the reception venue.
"First Choice strongly advises all customers to take out travel insurance, and also advises getting a wedding top-up policy which covers wedding essentials such as rings, photography and wedding attire."
Ms Swain went on to say that getting married abroad can often prove to be very good value for money, as well as a good bet for decent weather on a couple's big day.
