Expats should go online for cheaper travel insurance

Although it is often something that is overlooked by people moving abroad to retire, travel insurance for over 65’s is still crucial if they wish to explore the surrounding regions of their new home.
And according to Shelter Offshore, cheaper policies can be found by those willing to invest time in shopping around and searching online.
The overseas lifestyle advisory firm explained that people can also reduce the cost of their cover by taking out an annual policy that provides protection for the whole family.
It also suggested that buyers steer clear of policies covering things they will not need such as winter sports cover, as these additions often raise the price of premiums charged.
"Read the small print of any policy documents and if there are levels of travel insurance cover in there that you simply don’t require, ask whether removing that cover will bring the price of the insurance down," the website stated.
