Travelling to at least 25 countries is considered essential to living a full life
Brits need to travel to 25 foreign counties during their lifetime, be fluent in at least two languages and try all types of food to 'live life to the full', claims a study. Some 2,000 adults aged 18 to 65 were questioned in a poll, after which researchers compiled a list of 50 things considered as 'essential' for making the most of life.
Not worrying about money, spending more time outside, booking impulsive last minute holidays and having the courage to travel alone are indicative of a full life for many. Others listed losing a stone in weight, visiting all of Britain's historical landmarks and spontaneously blowing money on shopping trips as life essentials.
However, the average person has ticked off just eight of the 50 achievements listed and only 23% of those polled believe they are already "living life to the full". Much of the top 50 list focuses on experiences and achievements rather than having more material possessions, with travelling a prominent element throughout. Older people heading abroad with the aim of ticking a few more things off must remember to cover themselves with seniors travel insurance.
