Ski insurance claims 'change with the seasons'

The types of claims received by ski travel insurance providers depend on how good the season has been for the winter sport, it has been claimed.
According to InsureandGo, UK winter sports travel insurance claims amounted to approximately £66 million last year.
Looking forward to 2009, the insurance company suggested that the last few months have seen good conditions for skiing.
As a result, company founder Perry Wilson predicted that there will be less claims this year for personal accident and injury, but more for lost baggage as more people are travelling.
Highlighting the fact that most ski insurance claims are medical, he said: "You tend to find that people twist and sprain parts of their body they would not normally twist and sprain."
Mr Wilson added that on-site physiotherapy can be very expensive, with massages at the bottom of the ski slopes costing as much as 200 euros (£182).
This month, InsureandGo published statistics suggesting that British travel insurance providers received 130,000 skiing-related claims last year.
