Travel insurance customers search for bargain breaks

More than half of Brits will head abroad on a holiday this year, with a large proportion set to look for a bargain, a survey has found, but that doesn't mean you should not take out travel insurance.
While 54 per cent will head to foreign shores, almost a third (29 per cent) will do so at least twice during 2009, according research from Tesco Finance.
However, more than three in ten (34 per cent) admit they will spend less this year than they did in 2008.
"It's great to see that holidaymakers are pulling out the stops to get value for money and making sacrifices to ensure they get their two weeks in the sun," a Tesco spokesperson said.
The study found people in the Midlands are most likely to seek out a bargain on their travels, while Londoners are the most extravagant with their spending.
Hostelling International head of PR and communications Johan Kruger recently suggested more young families are taking advantage of budget accommodation.
