Travel insurers pay up for bizarre claims

Most holidaymakers will take out travel insurance to cover their break with the intention of never having to use it.

But in some cases it cannot be helped and in even fewer cases it is for a particularly odd reason that a traveller will have to claim.

MSN Money has done some research looking into the bizarre reasons which have caused a travel insurance claim and have produced the ten it feels to be the best.

One of which includes a man who lost his wallet down a drain in Natanya, Israel. Rather than claim on his travel insurance for the lost money and cards, he decided to put his hand down the drain to reclaim his lost property, only to be stung by a scorpion.

Luckily his travel insurance covered his hospital bill.

But travellers should be warned that not all events are covered by travel insurance.

One couple saw their tent put out of commission by a wayward parachutist, but they were not covered for accidental damage.

Last month a couple told the Manchester Evening News of their frustrations of not receiving their luggage during a dream cruise after it went missing at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5.ADNFCR-1320-ID-18587684-ADNFCR
