Worldwide travel insurance for the trip of a lifetime

With the government suggesting that 2010 is the perfect opportunity to take the trip of a lifetime, Britons may consider worldwide travel insurance to protect them wherever they choose to visit.

Directgov, the UK government's official online advisory service, says that it has guidance available on everything from baggage restrictions to cultural differences between Britain and worldwide destinations.

"Always talked about travelling the world or taking that dream trip? Well now's the time," the service adds, putting "Plan a dream trip" on its shortlist of New Year's Resolutions that Britons may want to make.

For those heeding the advice, worldwide travel insurance could help to cover any costs arising from mishaps that occur - and make sure that the dream holiday does not turn into a nightmare.

Directgov recommends travel insurance as the second item on its essential checklist for travellers, after looking on the Foreign & Commonwealth Office website for any safety alerts or guidance about the relevant destination.
