Britons 'snapping up' 2008 holiday deals

The next few weeks are the ideal time to grab a holiday bargain as travel companies are slashing prices, according to reports.
Tour operators are shrugging off concerns of a consumer slowdown after Christmas and reporting strong booking figures, thanks to bargain deals from holiday companies and airlines.
Sean Tipton, spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta), has explained that the strong sales have been down to Britons' insistence on having a summer holiday.
"If people are going to tighten their belts, they may decide not to get a new kitchen, or bathroom, but a summer holiday is one of the last things they will put off," he told the Independent.
And with millions of people booking their holidays well in advance, there is an increased chance that many will be tempted to book another trip later in the year.
By taking out annual travel insurance UK travellers can save money on each trip, covering short getaways, summer holidays and city breaks.
