There could soon be an increase in the number of people searching for travel insurance after a cruise operator announced it will offer free flights to Brits booking up for voyages around the Mediterranean and other European routes.
Silversea revealed its intention as the Passenger Shipping Association published its Annual Cruise Review, showing there has been an 11 per cent increase in bookings.
It represents a third consecutive year of double-digit increases in ship-based holiday growth.
Commenting on the Silversea move, a spokesperson for travel association Abta said holiday companies routinely offer special deals to encourage uptake - something that ultimately helps everyone.
"The UK tourism and domestic holiday is very important too and we have seen that has actually picked up this year, so whether you are going away abroad, or taking a holiday in the UK, it does benefit the economy," she said.
Around 100,000 people rely on the UK travel industry for employment, meaning holidaymakers help British workers, the spokesperson concluded.
