Cruise holidays enjoying a boom

This year could see a surge in cruise travel insurance if new research is to be believed.
According to the Passenger Shipping Association (PSA), cruise holidays are currently sailing on a wave of increased popularity as a result of the tumultuous state of the global economy.
Penny Guy, a spokesperson for the ferry industry's trade association, suggested that the growing partiality for nautical-themed holidays is a result of the "exceptional value for money" offered by cruises.
She elaborated: "It's the fact that, by its inclusive nature, it offers exceptional value for money and is much easier to budget for.
"You have your accommodation, your meals, entertainment and the actual transport aspect, all included within the price."
Ms Guy's sentiments echo those made earlier this week by flight comparison website Travelsupermarket.com, which suggested a rise in the number of bookings for all-inclusive holidays, as people struggle to control their budgets.
Although travel insurance included in package deals is now regulated by the FSA, personal finance specialist Kiplinger.com recently claimed that people travelling abroad are better served by policies from specialist providers.
