The inaugural Iranian Amateur Golf Open, organised by British entrepreneur Dylan Harris, will take place on Tehran's Enghelab golf course next April.

People planning to take flights to Iran to participate in the tournament, which will be held between April 17 and 19 on the only 13-hole golf course in the world, need to make sure that they have taken out a comprehensive sports travel insurance policy before jetting off.

Lupine Travel, a UK tour firm run by Mr Harris, sponsored the first North Korean Amateur Golf Open, which was held on April 29 in Pyongyang.

Speaking about his decision to organise a similar tournament in Iran, Mr Harris said: "The success of the tournament in North Korea earlier this year enabled me to push forward with the idea of hosting an event and promoting the sport in Iran.

"Unlike North Korea, Iran already had a dedicated golfing federation who are very keen to push the sport forward in their country, so this made matters much easier in enabling the tournament to happen."
