A proposed indoor ski resort in Sweden will be the biggest of its kind in the world
Plans for the world's biggest indoor ski resort have been unveiled in Sweden.
Designed by CF Møller Architects, the 135m-high Skipark 360° is to be built on the outskirts of Stockholm in a forest area in Balsta.
Among the biggest attractions of the park will be a 700m long ski slope with a 160m drop - the only indoor facility of its kind capable of hosting the World Cup.
In addition, there will be a 3.5km tunnel for cross country skiing, ice hockey and bandy rinks, areas for figure skating and snowboarding, and biathlon venues.
Once the complex is completed, holidaymakers will be able to pack up their gear, sort their
sports travel insurance and head off to enjoy skiing round the year.
The Skipark will also have shops, restaurants, a hotel, conference halls and spa facilities.
It is also designed to meet all of its energy needs from renewable sources including sunlight, wind and geothermal power.
