Tourist arrivals to the Maldives are booming
Recreational golfers and more serious players alike are set to flock to a new course that has opened in the Maldives.
Against a backdrop of thriving culture, crystal clear waters and jaw-dropping natural beauty, the golf course is situated at Shangri-La's Villingili Resort and Spa in Addu Atoll.
Boasting nine holes, the majority of which are par three, with an average length of 123 yards, the course makes for an ideal golfing holiday. Just make sure you're covered by comprehensive sports travel insurance before you jet off.
Tourism in the Maldives has boomed in the past decade, with the number of visitors nearly doubling, hitting a new high of more than 931,000 in 2011.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the resort said steps had been taken to minimise the environmental impact of the course on island wildlife - music to the ears of environmentally aware holidaymakers.
