A new golf course in Nigeria's Ondo State has been described as "world class".

The 18-hole Elizade Golf Resort in Ilara Mokin was developed by Chief Michael Ade Ojo, the Chairman of Toyota Nigeria Limited, and built by American company Total Golf Construction.

"Ilara Mokin is a world class course that is also going to be a challenging golf course and defining layout in Nigeria. Some of the holes are quite remarkable," said a golfer who did not wish to be identified.

It is the first golf facility to be built in the cocoa-producing Ondo State and is situated in a university town around 20 minutes from Akure, with another golfer, Moses Anabui, saying it boasts a breathtaking layout and superb views.

Golfers who are excited at the prospect of putting Africa's latest course to the test might just be tempted to get their sports travel insurance cover in place, get on a plane and put themselves among the first visitors to experience the new course.
