Ski enthusiasts 'should get annual cover'

Buying annual travel insurance is remarkably cheaper than single trip cover for ski enthusiasts, according to a new price comparison survey.
Research conducted by moneysupermarket.com discovered in one example that annual cover for multiple trips to the US was 27 per cent cheaper than a single trip travel insurance policy.
Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at moneysupermarket.com, says that ski enthusiasts will particularly benefit from shopping around.
"Our research exposes the myth that single trip policies are always cheaper than annual multi-trip cover. It pays to shop around, especially if you are travelling more than once a year. There are obvious savings to be made, especially when winter sports cover is included," he said.
Mr Gerrard also advised skiers to make sure they had the appropriate amount of medical cover and loss or theft of ski gear.
"For more expensive trips such as ski holidays, ensure your cancellation cover meets the cost of the holiday - in some cases the standard £3,000 might not suffice," he added.
Skiers who venture off piste are especially encouraged to check the terms of their travel insurance to make sure they are covered in case anything goes wrong.
