Ski insurance can save travellers thousands of pounds

Winter travellers should ensure that they never take to the piste without adequate ski or snowboard travel insurance unless they want to be left thousands of pounds out of pocket, according to the Telegraph.
Issuing advice on winter sports travel insurance to holidaymakers, the newspaper suggested that dedicated policies will provide more medical cover than European Health Insurance Cards.
It also suggested that travellers should be cautious of holiday insurance cover provided by tour operators, claiming that better, cheaper insurance can often be found elsewhere.
Travellers were also advised to check over the small print of their policy before taking part in any dangerous activities.
Brian Brown, insurance analyst at research firm Defaqto, told the Telegraph: "Baggage cover is more important than ever, because if your equipment is late you lose precious time skiing. The same applies to your pass, as these can cost hundreds of pounds."
Last month, research from financial services firm greenbee.com indicated that 54 per cent of people spend less than half an hour browsing the internet in search of the best travel insurance for their needs.
