Skiers 'going for package breaks'

Skiers and snowboarders are increasingly booking package holidays in a bid to cut back on the costs of taking a snow break, one sector group has pointed out.

According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, winter sports fans travelling abroad to hit the slopes "want to know their costs upfront" and are therefore searching for deals which include flights, accommodation and ski travel insurance.

Commenting on particular areas popular with winter sport-loving Brits, information manager at the Ski Club of Great Britain Al Morgan said: "France continues to dominate the market with a 43 per cent share which is equal to last year. Austria, however, has grown by two per cent and Italy and Switzerland have seen a one per cent increase in their share."

However, winter sports fans may be wise to remember that travel insurance is not included in these deals.

Instead of investing in normal holiday insurance cover, thrill-seeking Brits may want to look into getting winter sports travel insurance, to make sure that the specific problems they could run into on the slopes - such as injuries or broken ski equipment - are at least partially covered by their policy.
