Egypt has some of the best diving in the world

A tiny drop of paradise off the west coast of rugged Lombok, Gili Trawangan is a popular stop-off for travellers heading across the Indonesian archipelago. Established dive schools operate in Gili T, where warm and clear waters mean you'll be able to spot all sorts of marine life just metres from the beach – from turtles and seahorses to reef sharks.
Find Nemo, Dory and the rest of the gang at one of the world's greatest dive locations – the Great Barrier Reef (GBR). The reef stretches out for 2,300km and though there are plenty of places all the way up Australia's eastern coast that offer dive opportunities, Cairns is one of the most popular. Well-established on the Australian backpacker trail, Cairns has a close-knit party-town atmosphere that's not to be missed.
Explore the idyllic island of Caye Caulker, just off the coast of Belize, and experience some of the best diving the Americas have to offer. While the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, located just off Caye Caulker, might not match the GBR's splendour, it has a whole host of dive sites perfect for newbies. However, the iconic Great Blue Hole, a dramatic underwater sinkhole, is best left to the more experienced!
Not only is Madeira one of Europe's most beautiful islands, it's also one of the best dive spots this continent has to offer. A year-round mild climate makes the island an ideal destination for beginners, with a rich variety of shore diving available. For those more ambitious divers, you can take a boat out to the incredible Desertas Islands Nature Reserve, where excellent visibility lets you to dive down to 60m.
The laid-back beachside town of Dahab is the perfect place to learn if you're looking for a more relaxed diving holiday. There's plenty of shore diving available and with a year-round visibility of 30m Dahab is the perfect place for beginners to get to grips with diving. The main attraction for more experienced divers is the submarine sinkhole located just steps from the shore up the coastline.
