Almost 40in of snow has fallen across parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas, suggesting holidaymakers will be checking over their travel insurance.
A total of 39in of snow blanketed parts of north-east Oklahoma and north-west Arkansas on Tuesday and Wednesday.
More snow in Tulsa in Oklahoma has given the city its whitest month on record - with a blizzard also falling on February 1 contributing to a total 22in of snow.
It will also go down in the history books as the city's snowiest winter - with 26in falling so far.
The UK was also brought to a standstill by snow and ice in December, with the bad weather crippling transport networks up and down the country.
