The opening of a new terminal at Alicante Airport is likely to boost Spain holidays

The launch of a new terminal at Alicante Airport could lead to an increase in the number of people visiting Spain over the coming months.

The terminal, which is due to open during the busy Easter period, will enable the airport to tackle 20 million passengers every year.

Meanwhile, air travellers can also enjoy additional facilities including shops and new eateries.

Alicante is one of the country's most popular flight destinations, and the new facility is expected to attract more holidaymakers. This could also see more people taking out travel insurance before heading off on holiday.

The airport, which is the sixth busiest in Spain, already has two terminals which handle more than nine million arrivals a year.
