It can be difficult to stick to a budget when enjoying a little decadence on holiday
Two thirds (65%) of Britons spend more than they had budgeted for while on holiday, while a quarter of these people exceed their budgets by a fifth, a survey by voucher code site Savoo has revealed.
Half of these careless spenders pay for their excesses using their credit cards. It would appear that consuming too much alcohol is responsible for overly loosening the purse strings, as 47% said that budgeting went out the window once they had had a couple of drinks. Britons might overdo it when they are on holiday, but the lapse tends to only be temporary as almost a quarter pay off their debts immediately when they get home.
It can be hard to stick to a pre-determined budget while enjoying oneself, which is why it can be helpful to save on holiday costs by shopping around for the best-priced worldwide travel insurance deals. When it comes to holiday bargains meanwhile, Savoo's general manager, Simon Bird, believes there are some good deals to be had at the moment.
