Cape Town in South Africa is one of the cheapest destinations for hotel room extras
The cost of hotel room extras vary greatly depending on where you are staying, a survey has revealed. TripAdvisor, which carried out the study, found there is money to be saved by Brits travelling to south east Asia or Africa, although people staying a little closer to home in Europe will have to fork out more.
For instance, items such as room service orders, drinks from the minibar and dry cleaning can be over four times more expensive in Moscow than in Cape Town. Collectively, a bottle of water, a can of Coke, a mini bottle of vodka and dry cleaning will cost just £12.61 in Cape Town, compared to a staggering £53.05 in Moscow.
Knowing you are going to be saving money on hotel room extras saves cash for other things, including more comprehensive travel insurance. Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, Mumbai in India and Istanbul in Turkey were among the best-value destinations for hotel extras, while Moscow, Paris and Stockholm had the priciest extras.
