Ipanema beach in Rio de Janeiro
Brazil's Ipanema Beach has been named the sexiest beach in the world - here we'll take a look at that and list the rest of the top 5 in the Travelzoo poll.
1. Ipanema Beach, Brazil
With 1.5 miles of white sand to its name, plus a stunning backdrop of high mountains and dense rainforest, this beach in Rio de Janeiro is a popular place for the rich and famous to kick back and relax during their downtime.
High end shops, hip restaurants and cool bars line the bay, just in case you want a break from catching the rays, while an endless array of water sport activities on the crystal clear ocean definitely make this the place to be.
2. Tulum Beach, Mexico
Second place in Travelzoo's list of the world's 10 sexiest beaches went to Tulum Beach in Mexico.
Here holidaymakers can enjoy a picturesque coastline that runs as far as the eye can see. Models and Hollywood actresses are often spotted topping up their tans on the shore. Actress Sienna Miller is among those who have been spotted enjoying the ancient retreat of Tulum beach.
3. Crane Beach, Barbados
Third place, meanwhile, was awarded to Crane Beach in Barbados - the home island of pop princess Rihanna, who regularly takes the time to get back to her roots on the pink, powder-soft sand that stretches for miles.
The beach is accessible by a staircase or a glass-front beach elevator - the only one of its kind in the Eastern Caribbean - and protected by a natural coral reef that makes for some great swimming conditions.
4. Natai Beach, Thailand
Natai Beach in Thailand stretches for 2km along the Phang Nga coast. Expect white sands, sparking waters and a sparsely populated beach - this is still something of an unspoilt secret and has yet to become a full-blown tourist destination.
5. St Tropez, France
St Tropez has been the playground of the rich and famous for generations. Iconic figures from Paris' Left Bank such as Juliette Greco as well as the legendary modern artist Pablo Picasso have graced its pavements and beaches. In the early 1950s pin-up actress Brigette Bardot starred in When God Created Women, set in St Tropez, and the resort's iconic status was sealed.
