Cruises 'are a good bet' for value holidays

They were once viewed as a type of holiday that only the rich and famous could afford, but cruises are now a good-value option for people from all walks of life.
This is the advice of Sharron Livingston from thetravelmagazine.net, who said that they are "a really good bet" when it comes to value for money.
She pointed out that although not much is coming off the ticket price of cruises, companies are now throwing in extras which could lead to significant savings.
However, Sharron said that travel insurance customers had better get in quickly if they want to reap the benefits.
"Like the airlines, prices start lower and as capacity fills the prices rise, so it's always best to book well in advance," she advised.
The Passenger Shipping Association recently predicted that 1.65 million UK passengers will choose to take a cruise in 2010.
Meanwhile, a survey by Carnival revealed that a quarter of regular cruisers would cut back on day-to-day essentials in order to afford their main cruise holiday.
