Cruise ships are proving popular this summer
The UK's bad weather has upped the number of cruise bookings as many make last minute get-away plans, according to a cruise liner.
Ex-UK specialist Cruise & Maritime Voyages, which runs two ships holding 800 passengers each, are almost fully booked for June as people make an attempt to flee from the grim UK weather.
Mike Hall, the marketing manager, said: "We are pleased that we decided to remain open throughout the extended Jubilee bank holiday. Although the Jubilee celebrations warmed the heart, they did nothing to warm the temperature.
"Clearly people are looking to escape and the demand for cruises is very strong, our June sailings are almost sold out. If the poor weather continues, demand could well exceed availability and then prices will surely rise."
Those looking to depart on a cruise holiday this summer are reminded to take out cruise travel insurance first.
