Greece is the top European destination to visit, according to results from a survey from TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel community.
Despite the current credit problems in Britain, people are still determined to factor a holiday into their year and Rhodes has won the 2008 Travelers' Choice for European destinations, in the TripAdvisor awards.
Salzburg came second, while the UK's highest entry was Bath, flying high in finishing a respectable fourth.
Bath also finished 14th in the overall best travel destinations of the world, according to the results, with New Zealand filling the top two positions, through Milford Sound and Queenstown.
Ian Rumgay, European communication's manager for TripAdvisor, told the Guardian: "What the destinations have in common is a 'something special' that makes them truly exceptional in the eyes of travellers around the world."
Travellers that enjoy touring the world are advised to make sure they have adequate travel insurance, as various insurance policies are around to tailor to individual needs.
These include golf travel insurance, backpacking travel insurance or ski insurance, depending on the purpose of the break.
A recent report from moneysupermarket.com suggested that anyone that travels more than three times a year would be best served in purchasing annual travel insurance for their trips.
