Switzerland has 'best environment for tourists'

Switzerland's environment is the most attractive when it comes to enticing travellers from overseas, it has been claimed.
According to the latest Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2008, released by the World Economic Forum, the ski haven along with Austria and Germany are top of the list when it comes to tourism competitiveness.
Researchers looked at figures from 130 countries to compile the report looking at different factors which could tempt tourists such as transport links and cultural offerings.
"Our study is not a 'beauty contest' on the attractiveness of a country," said Jennifer Blanke, senior economist of the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Network.
"Rather, we aim to measure the factors that make it attractive to develop the travel and tourism industry of individual countries."
She added that the countries with the highest ranking "demonstrate the importance of supportive business and regulatory frameworks, coupled with world-class transport and tourism infrastructure and a focus on nurturing human and natural resources".
