Britain 'cannot compete' with the Mediterranean

Brits looking for a holiday destination with the best weather may find that the UK cannot compete with the Mediterranean, it has been claimed.
According to Elliott Frisby, spokesperson from VisitBritain, while more people may be considering a break at home to cut costs, "the danger" is that Britain cannot match other destinations for weather.
He noted that many Brits will still jet off abroad this year in search of the sun.
Whether they are planning a holiday in the sun, or a break close to home, travel insurance to cover the financial cost of any unexpected problems could prove to be a good buy for UK holidaymakers.
Hotels.com recently published figures showing that the English Riviera is set to be the most popular destination for British holidaymakers this year.
Searches on the site for accommodation in Torquay and Newquay are up by more than 160 per cent when compared to last year, the site said.
