Tourism body 'will attract overseas visitors'

The establishment of a new tourism body for London will help to attract people to the city for the 2012 Olympic Games, it has been claimed.
It was recently announced that VisitBritain, the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA), Visit London and UKinbound are to team up to work towards coming up with a tourism strategy to tempt visitors to head to the capital for the sporting event.
Those planning on visiting the Games from within the UK could find it wise to get UK holiday cancellation insurance cover for their trip, as problems could occur on a domestic break as well as a getaway to sunnier climes overseas.
According to Kurt Janson, policy direct at the Tourism Alliance, the tourism team up is "a really good thing".
"One of the issues with a big event like the Olympics is it can scare away some of the tourism numbers you get per year. Tourists often get scared by price hikes, crowds and lack of accommodation," he said.
