Packaged holidays are still among the favourites for travellers looking to get away for either a short holiday or a more lengthy one, according to new research.
Halifax found that 2.5 million Brits still take a package trip to an exotic destination every year, while almost three quarters (70 per cent) of package holidaymakers never visit modern tourist attractions such as a water or theme park.
Kayte Williams, holiday travel manager at travelsupermarket.com, said that Majorca, the Red Sea and the Costa del Sol are still popular with travellers.
"Package holidays are still popular - across the four channels that we compare on our channel, it's the third biggest. That's against flights, hotels and car hire."
She also explained that Cyprus, Portugal, the Canary Island and Mexico are also firm favourites for packaged holidays that are also affordable.
