Holidaymakers travelling further afield

With holidaymakers becoming more adventurous in their choice of destination, annual travel insurance is all the more crucial.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), Brits are looking for a break from their everyday trials and tribulations when they travel abroad.
Travellers should ensure they have adequate holiday insurance however, as statistics from the organisation revealed that a growing number are looking outside of Europe for more exotic locations.
ABTA spokesperson Frances Tuke suggested that the majority will still go to destinations in western Europe this summer.
"However, that market in traditional terms is seen as being mature and so it hasn't grown as fast as the mid and long-haul destinations have," she added.
Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Mexico and the Spanish Caribbean are expected to be some of the most popular destinations outside of Europe this year, according to the association.
Meanwhile, a recent release from travel website Opodo.co.uk revealed that people are being drawn towards holidays in southern hemisphere locales, as they seek to escape the effects of recession.
