Self-catering holiday 'may provide best value'

Parents of young children, who are looking to get away on a cheap holiday this year have been advised to check out the option of going via a self-catering package by the Association of Independent Tour Operators.
A spokesman for the company declared that self-catering holidays could be an "attractive option" for families with young children and after a few years of a decrease in demand, these holidays could become fashionable again.
"I think self-catering is something that people feel they want to do to maintain some semblance of independence on their holidays," he added.
He continued by saying that being with a young child may mean that parents wouldn't want to go to a restaurant every night, so a self-catering holiday provides a choice between going out and cooking in the room.
Holiday Rentals reported in February last year that they believed that 60 per cent of travellers would choose to go on a self-catering holiday throughout 2007.
Families thinking of going away are advised to make sure they are covered by travel insurance, with family travel insurance offering the possibility of a cheaper quote.
