Comprehensive travel insurance for pregnant travellers
Expecting more than a great holiday? Unlike lots of other insurers, we're happy to insure pregnant travellers, even if it's a multiple pregnancy. We're proud of our friendly, efficient service for pregnant travellers and will give you the comprehensive travel insurance you need for your holiday. We'll cover you up to week 28 for medical expenses and thereafter if you have serious complications. And we'll do it at a price that's fair. So if you're carrying a little extra luggage on your holiday, you don't need to worry about travelling uninsured.
Travelling from 0 to 28 weeks
We offer medical expenses cover for pregnancy and childbirth from week 0 to week 28 whilst you are away. So, as long as you have not experienced any previous complications in childbirth in the last 2 years, you'll have access to the same great travel insurance benefits as everyone else. That means you can stay safe with cover for up to £10 million of medical expenses (on our Superior policy) and 24/7 emergency medical support. And if a little someone forces you to cancel your holiday at the last minute, we'll make sure you're not left out of pocket either. However, we do recommend that you check with your carrier that they'll let you on board at the stage you'll be when you travel. We can't cover you if they refuse to take you. We also recommend that you check adequate medical facilities are available at your destination BEFORE you book your trip.
Travelling from 29 – 40 weeks
If you need to travel from week 29 to week 40 we can't cover you for normal childbirth or cancellation, however we will cover all medical expenses and cancellation cover if you have complications such as pre-eclampsia, have a miscarriage or have to have an emergency Caesarean. For more information on our list of complications, get in touch.
If you give birth when you are away
If you have your baby while you're away, you'll both be covered by your policy to travel home. However, if your baby is premature, our cover will only extend to repatriation if our chief medical officer agrees air travel is completely safe. We consider the baby’s health to be of utmost important so in most instances the baby will need to be 40 weeks before air travel is considered completely free of risk.
Adding baby to your annual policy
If you buy annual travel insurance before you travel, you can add your baby to the policy when they're born. All you have to do is keep us in the loop! If you have pre-existing medical conditions we can still insure you too. Our highly trained in-house team will be happy to discuss your options to make sure you get quality cover for a hassle-free holiday. Just call us on 0345 90 80 161.
