Sports travel 'will dominate calendar'

Sporting events will dominate the travel calendar for much of 2010, it has been noted by one travel expert, whilst anyone heading off on holiday is also advised to take out sports travel insurance.
According to director of product management at Expedia.co.uk Jonathan Cudworth, events such as the World Cup in South Africa will see sports trips become popular, despite the fact that many people are still trying to cut back on spending due to the financial crisis.
"Although recovery will be slow in 2010, travellers have shown that they are unwilling to give up their well-earned holiday," Mr Cudworth noted.
As well as destinations such as South Africa, Canada and India, Europe is set to see "resurgence" in popularity, he said.
He was speaking at the recently held Dubai Airshow and chief operating officer of Airbus John Leachy echoed his comments, saying that the condition of the travel sector is improving.
Mr Leahy told the show that at the moment, he saw the sector "improving not deteriorating".
