With wet and windy weather sweeping the UK, millions of Britons are heading to sunny ski resorts around the world for a break – with Geneva topping the list as the best airport to fly to.
Online flight firm Cheapflights.co.uk has listed its top five skiing destinations for those heading on the piste, and the Swiss location ticks all the boxes. Within easy reach of the main skiing resorts in the Swiss and French Alps, Geneva is a gateway to the crème de la crème of European skiing.
Canada comes a close second with Vancouver airport located next to British Columbia's stunning Whistler resort, with scenic views of the mountains and the local village's beautiful architecture.
Grenoble links skiers with the main French resorts of Isere, Savoie and Haute Savoie, while Turin is also praised for its proximity to Italy's top slopes.
Finally, the world famous resort of Aspen is also in the top five, with the firm claiming it to be "logistically hassle free".
Nevertheless, skiers are reminded that, however easy the journey may appear, ski travel insurance and winter sports travel insurance are vital to cover you should the worst happen.
